Welcome.

Welcome to my blog, here I post about philosophy, politics, and I review a book every now and then!

Mediocre: of only moderate quality; not very good.

Daniel Shavers and Tragedy

Daniel Shavers and Tragedy

Daniel Shavers, Father of two young girls, Husband to Laney Sweet, Blue collar working man (pest control), and victim of a brutal and terrifying police execution at the hands of thugs.

On January 18th Daniel was on a business trip in Mesa, Arizona staying at La Quinta Inn & Suites where he at some point in the night showed a few friends the pellet gun he used to exterminate pests for work, and supposedly hung said pellet gun out the window, testing out the scope. The police were called, and showed up to the hotel in combat gear wielding Semi-automatic rifles. As Daniel and a friend exited their room after having a few drinks, with nothing in their hands, they were met by a power drunk swat team.

He and his his friend were shouted at immediately, told to “stop and get on the ground” which after both doing as promptly as can be expected when surprised by such a horrific situation, were hit by a reprimand for not following the orders and told that anymore “failures” would likely result in being shot right there. Horrified and shaken the two followed the orders given; cross and uncross your legs, put your hands over your head, don’t move, crawl, if you think you’re going to fall then you’d better fall on your face, etc… After his friend was taken away, the barrage of confusing commands continued to flow and even escalate; none of which could have been easier to understand with several guns pointed at you and multiple threats to end your life if you make one mistake. He started sobbing, understandably, saying he was sorry, and begging them not to end his life, pleading “please don’t shoot me” as he was ordered to crawl towards the swine holding him hostage.

At one point as he crawled the best he could, the loose gym shorts he had on began to slide down, in the fearful and daed state he was in he reached back to pull them up.

Daniel Shavers was shot 5 times. Upon checking his body they found no weapons, upon searching his room, only an air rifle was found.

The man who fired the shots is named Philip Brailsford, his personal AR-15 which the department had approved was engraved with the words “YOU’RE FUCKED”, a detail left out when he was tried for second degree murder and manslaughter. In such a trial about whether or not the shooting and killing of an unarmed man was justified, one might think that the most important thing that could possibly exist would be a FUCKING VIDEO of the actual shooting; there happened to be 2. Both from body cam footage recorded at the point of view by the thugs themselves from the time the squad entered the building to moment they ended his life.

As it turns out though, this evidence was edited and only partially shown to the jury, stopping short of the actual shooting. The video also wasn’t publicly released until after the trial was over, the trial in which Daniel’s murderer was let free because he did as he was trained to.

I Have the video here for you to watch, although I have to say, it’s one of the most disturbing things I have ever seen. It is an uncensored look into an execution of a supposed free man, and it makes me wonder, do only black lives matter when taken by the police? Surely black lives do matter, but where were the riots? Where was the enormous media outpouring over an innocent mans killer being let free, a man who, viewed by most of society was supposed to be the one to “serve and protect”?

Police are not servants or protectors of a free people. They are the baton of Oligarchs, a gang unto themselves, and a cult. The belief in the need for a monopoly on force (the idea that police/ the military are justified in initiating violence against otherwise peaceful individuals) is no less religious than burning of witches to cast out evil spirits, or throwing a virgin in a volcano to appease some God. Think about almost any law on the books, would you yourself be willing to break down your neighbors door and kidnap and or shoot them for doing or not doing that thing?

Watch the video, and decide for yourself whether or not Daniel deserved death.

Be free, black or white, we can’t let this keep happening.
